Here
are some of the programs highlighted in You Can Afford College
Now, the City University of New York’s (CUNY) new guide to
scholarships, grants and financial aid.
The
Tuition Assistance Program: Funded by the State of New York,
these benefits are based on financial need. CUNY students will
be receiving more than $130 million this year.
Pell
Grants: Federally funded grants provide students with cash
for educational-related expenses. Beginning this year, the maximum
annual award of $3,300 will increase to $3,750.
The
City University Honors College—
University Scholars Program: This newly-inaugurated program
provides a full scholarship, laptop computer, internships, stipends
and other opportunities to highly motivated students.
The
New York City Council Academic Scholarship: These scholarships
that were established by the NYC Council in 1997 provide $1,450
per year for CUNY students with a B average or better.
