Friday, October 14, 2011 was an opportunity for P.S. 75X to participate in the United Federation of Teachers initiative titled "Go Pink: Raising Awareness for Breast Cancer." And everyone got involved because raising awareness for breast cancer is a worldwide campaign.
That day, Pink became the most pronounced color for this day. Pink, the symbol of love, to honor loved ones. Pink, the symbol of hope, to support the breast cancer survivors. And Pink, the symbol of breast cancer awareness.
The entire month of October 2011 was a success. Earlier in the month P.S, 75X staff raised hundreds of dollars to fund cancer research and cancer support programs. UFTers Erica David, Gisela Montalvo, Sharin Tirado, Mayra Collazo and Evangeline Mercado organized the breakfast kickoff and P.S. 75's walk. Finally a cadre of UFT professionals, family and friends walked for the cure at Orchard Beach. These are some of the powerful strides to eradicate cancer in our lifetime. And P.S. 75X was there, Walking the Walk and In the Pink: Raising Awareness for Breast Cancer.
