Audio Guide at Whitney Museum
The
Whitney Museum of American Art has introduced its first family
audio guide People, Places and Spaces. The free guide seeks to
help children think critically about art and the world around
them. Available in Spanish, the guide intends to introduce both
adults and children to the museum’s permanent collection of American
masterpieces. Families visiting the museum can use the guide to
explore the Whitney’s most acclaimed works, including Alexander
Calder’s magical Calder’s Circus, Georgia O’Keefe’s radiant Music
in Pink and Blue, and Edward Hopper’s iconic Early Sunday Morning.
It is available in Spanish and will be online in the Fall.
Located on 75th St. and Madison Ave, The Whitney Museum
of American Art was founded in 1930, and holds approximately 13,000
works of art representing more than 1,900 artists. For more information,

enjoying creative projects in the galleries, exploring the Permanent

ARTURO
HERRERA: BEFORE WE LEAVE Exhibition opens Sept. 6
Herrera
combines collage, painting and sculpture to create installations
filled with bright biomorphic forms and cartoon-like fragments.
This exhibition is part of the Whitney’s Contemporary Series which
blends modernist abstract painting with Disneyesque imagery.
FIRST
EXPOSURE-SHARON HARPER: PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE FLOATING WORLD
Exhibition opens Sept. 22
Harper
uses motion, field depth and selective toning to make photographs
that reflect a subjective experience of nature. This exhibition
will feature her black-and-white rural landscapes photographed
from a high-speed train and cloud photographs toned with metallic
colors.
