Violence
Prevention through Theater
After
the Columbine High School shootings on April 20, 1999, Adina Taubman,
an actress and playwright, began a series of interviews with members
of the Columbine community. Drawing on these interviews, she created
a one-woman play, “Doing Justice,” that explores the event and
its aftermath.
Taubman, who portrays approximately 30 characters in the play,
is looking to perform in high schools in order to facilitate a
discussion between students and teachers about the complex issues
raised by the Columbine tragedy. The play has the potential for
an interdisciplinary discussion. Her goal is to help with violence
prevention in the schools.
If
you are interested in hosting the play at your school, please
call Ms. Taubman at 212-675-3407.
