Academic Advisor

The Kaplan Educational Foundation is looking for an Academic Advisor to support the Kaplan Leadership Program.  The Academic Advisor will report to the Foundation Director and will be responsible for all direct service components of the program, including:

• Advise students on course selection and credit-transfers.

• Coordinate other academic support.

• Guide students through the selection of and application to bachelor’s programs.

• Support the participants’ non-academic priorities (e.g. – work-family-study balance, career development)

• Provide ongoing support for program participants.

• Provide  logistical and budget management support for program events.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: A bachelor’s degree and 3-5+ years full-time work experience relevant to Academic Advising and supporting community college students.  Superior interpersonal and problem solving skills, and proven success working with the diversity represented by NYC community colleges.  Well-developed business writing and communication skills.  Entrepreneurial spirit and an appetite for rapid change.
