Unlock the Keys to Human Potential
To the Editor:
Not only do we have to pay room, board and everything else for our son, David’s killers, we now have to pay for an education for them too? Have you ever lost your twenty three year old son to one shot in the heart by a stranger in the middle of the night, a wonderful family of six destroyed forever in an instant? Our oldest daughter had to witness this horrendous crime and watch helplessly as her baby brother and best friend died! Our hearts and souls are broken forever!

How nice to see a recent article regarding Lucy Sprague Mitchell’s lasting contributions to education. As family members we are grateful for her efforts in education reform. As parents and now grandparents we have growing concerns about the welfare of our teachers. The plethora of new mandates have only stifled and overwhelmed the teachers we know. There is more talk among these educators of early retirement and we are in danger of losing a depth and quality of educator that will be impossible to replace.

To the Editor:
Ms. Arnette (as my fellow scholars and I call her) is a wonderful principal. I am a student at the Young Women’s Leadership School Bronx Campus. This is my second year in this school and I am in the second class of grade 8 since the school has been open. Ms. Arnette, with so much on her hands being a principal and all makes sure she takes the time to get to know each and every one of her students, and we love her for that! To her we are her daughters; each of us has a different potential and in her eyes each of us is so special to her. I love her dearly.

Response to: Tiki Barber Supports Arts Education
To the Editor:
This is an extremely important aspect of our students’ lives, because as a NYC schoolteacher I have observed they receive very little knowledge, if any at all. I have been teaching for 6 years now. As a product of the NYC board of education I admire anyone who takes the time to give back to our future. I am now in charge of a suspension site in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and my students need as much motivation as they can get to get them interested in the core curriculum. When they see major figures in their lives that they like getting involved in their lives that is the greatest motivation for them. So once again, I would like to thank every one involved in bringing this all together.
