St. John's U Offers Distance Learning Degree

Addressing the need for highly qualified school administrators, St. John's University will offer a fully online Master of Science and Professional Diploma in Educational Administration, the first in New York State and the only one to use full-time University faculty. "This program is designed to provide needed flexibility without reducing quality, eliminating the necessity to travel to attend classes at particular times and places, while engaging participants in high levels of online interaction with each other and the professors," said Jerrold Ross, Dean of the School of Education. "Quality will be assured with the same outstanding faculty who teach and support on-campus students supporting on-line students."

Classes will include Administrative Leadership, Educational Planning, Politics of Education, Community Relations, School Business Administration, Negotiations and more. The two-year program will culminate with an event at the University's Manhattan campus where graduates will engage in a mock-collective bargaining session.

Students who have participated in online courses at St. John's have already reported positive experiences: "I believe I got more out of this course because of the constant interaction with the professor and students, as well as the ability to work at my own pace, than I would have gotten had I physically attended a class," said Paula T. McKeown, a student at St. John's.

St. John's School of Education is one of the most highly regarded schools of education in the nation. Its alumni hold important positions as principals and superintendents many of who are involved in school districts with a majority of underserved children.#
