The “Joy” Days of
Summer
by Pola Rosen, Ed.D.
I love New York City! As a child, I remember with great
affection and nostalgia, the wonderful, relaxing days
of unstructured summer days: swinging in a hammock, planting
in a garden, finding salamanders in a stream, picking
berries, picnicking, skipping rope, climbing rocks, playing
musical duets with my father, exploring the back paths
of the Bronx Botanical Gardens and the Bronx Zoo and
above all, reading voraciously.
In my meanderings around the city this summer, these
are some of the activities families are enjoying together.#
